It’s important to recognise the impact that bad breath can have on your life. It can be one of the most embarrassing personal hygiene problems to afflict us, especially when it’s pointed out by someone else. And, for most of us, bad breath is likely to be the result of poor dental hygiene.
Here are four simple actions, you can easily take, to make the difference.
1. Brush Your Teeth Regularly and Well
The first tip to relieve bad breath is a bit of a no-brainer. Regular teeth brushing makes a big difference. It’s vital to brush your teeth at least twice daily to avoid the accumulation of food debris. And plaque, even more of a problem, is avoided as well, which is much more difficult to notice much of the time.
By regularly brushing the teeth, any nasty plaque gets dislodged and fails to build up. But if you only brush once a day, or miss occasionally, you will find that it builds up and is a lot more difficult to shift.
This is a really important message for those who suffer from bad breath. Your teeth may look and even feel clean, but unless you brush your teeth regularly, it’s the plaque build up that will leave your breath unpleasant.
When brushing your teeth, don’t forget your tongue. According to many studies, your tongue harbors bacteria that may cause bad breath.
2. Floss It!
You can do more than brush your teeth! Sometimes it’s difficult to dislodge every bit of food that gets stuck, so getting it out is important, if you want to see the back of bad breath completely.
There are all sorts of weird gizmos and tools out there to do the flossing, yet it need not be that complicated. As a preference, you might find a straightforward non-shredding floss, on a long, long (25 meter – a lot of floss) roll which will last you for ages.
Remember to floss before you brush, so that the newly dislodged bits between your teeth will be finished off by the brushing.
3. Visit Your Dentist Regularly
Dental hygiene, to improve your bad breath, can be maintained easily by ensuring that you see your dentist regularly. It’s usual to have checkups every 6 months or so and dentists being as they are, will often call you or write to remind you. It’s their living, after all!
There’s a whole lot of hot air about the value of seeing a dentist. Suffice to say it’s always good value, because prevention is a lot cheaper than paying for real emergencies.
Bottom line is that many of the issues that cause bad breath will build up and cause significant problems before long. That will put the cost up too, if you don’t make that visit every half year or so and pay the bill. It’s an investment worth making!
Remember, in most countries there are defined dental insurance programs available so that you can spread the cost, or at least keep a lid on it, so that might well be an investment that is worthwhile.
4. Chew Gum
It might have been a gimmick by marketing people to start with, but there have now been a number of studies to show the value of chewing gum in maintaining your dental health during the day.
Apart from the minty freshness that will help to mask bad breath, that’s not the point.
In fact, the capability for chewing gum to keep your mouth clean by stimulating saliva flow, as a natural oral cleanser, as well as dislodging stuck bits of food is now well proven.

Say that you are having a new home built for you. Imagine your surprise when you discover after it is done that it is infested with mold! What a nightmare that would be!
Most people do not think about the possibility of mold actually being built into their homes when the contractor is in the process of building it. How can this happen?
Sometimes building materials that have mold on them are used in the houses construction and the contractor and/or his supervisors do not assess the quality of the materials before using them.
The best thing you can do to prevent mold from being built into your new home are to inspect the building materials and test them yourself.
Sometimes the materials bought to build your home with are stored outside directly on the ground and in cases where it rains on them and the humidity is high, mold can and will begin to grow on these items, depending on how long they are left there.
Both building materials and the entire home itself should be covered with plastic sheeting at the end of each day to make sure the part of the home that is already completed and the materials it is being built with are safe from rain.
Until the walls and roof of the house are installed and are completely able to keep out rain and other kinds of precipitation, it should be covered each and every day of the construction.
The home sometimes is not tested for mold growth as it should and when it should be, which is during the homes construction and after it is finished.
Although some people choose to do mold testing during and after their new homes construction on their own (as they should), it is the job of the contractor to make sure the integrity of the structure is not compromised by anything, including mold.
You could sue the contractor if you discover the mold contamination after the home is already built, but who wants to build a home for thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars just to find out that you can not live in it? Nobody I know of.
The modern materials that we use to build homes these days, including drywall and plywood, are things that mold love to eat.
Most homes are built recently have some amount of these materials in them, though, and sometimes it can not be helped unless you want a more expensive alternative.

Here’s a really common question I get asked from time to time: Is anxiety a disease?
Now here’s my really common answer: No, it’s not.
Those of you who have read my articles before will not be surprised by this answer. But in truth, it’s not only my answer-or my opinion. Hundreds of experts feel the same way. Consider:

But some may be thinking, “So what? Does it really matter if we call anxiety a disease or not? A rose by any other name, right?” Well in my experience, it absolutely does matter how we label anxiety. In fact, the labels we assign to things determine how we deal with them.
If my doctor says I have a cased of the “sniffles” I will react to that information in a certain way. But if my doctor says I have an “upper respiratory infection,” I’m going to react to this information in a very different way, even though my situation and symptoms may be exactly the same.
It’s easy to see that the words we use definitely count, especially over the long-haul. We develop habits in how we see ourselves and the world around us, and these habits ultimately determine how (and even if) we react to situations in our life.
Of course, from time to time we can all fall into a disempowering way of thinking, or of labeling ourselves and our situations that “zaps” our personal power. In fact, in some ways the world around us actually “conditions” us to see ourselves as powerless over problems we face in life.
No where is this more evident than in dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. If we use words like “disease” or “disorder” to describe these things, we tend to start looking at them as something that happens to us, something that we have no control over.
This is exactly the kind of “victim” thinking that keeps many people paralyzed with fear and panic; it makes it easy to develop a belief that the whole anxiety/panic situation is completely out of our hands, and that a medical solution is always necessary. Wrong!
The trouble with this thinking? A medical solution is only appropriate for a medical problem. The majority of anxiety is caused by problems in our “thinking habits,” not problems in our physiology.
No matter how you go about it, recovery from anxiety requires the individual to accept his/her role in creating the issue to begin with. It has been my experience that “Until you accept responsibility for your anxiety situation, you’re not going to overcome it.”
You also need a therapist/coach/program that you can believe in, one that makes sense to you. It is important that you feel strongly about whatever approach you take, and that it motivates, encourages and even inspires YOU to ’see’ yourself living a different life, free of anxiety and panic attacks.
Anxiety is not a disease. Don’t give it that power over you.

Losing a few pounds is what is on the minds of thousands of people at any given moment. If you are among those who need to lose weight, then weight loss motivation is what you need to get into your life. 1. Make sure you own a weighing scale. If you weigh your self every day, the minute losses on the reading that you notice could well become a driving force to stick with your exercise and diet. It also gives you feedback on the efficiency of your weight loss program. If you do not see any change after a month or so you obviously are doing something wrong.
2. When you have a mental picture of a better-looking body that could be a motivator to help you achieve such a state of being. So try and envision what you want to look like, be realistic about it, and work towards this image.
3. Once you begin to see success with your weight loss plans, you could well add a few targets to the outline plan. Maybe you would want to get some muscles as well, and you could add that on your list, so that could be a driving force maybe.
4. Become calorie conscious with a food diary, and do not try and quicken the pace of your weight loss. You didn’t gain the weight overnight and you are not going to lose it overnight either.
5. Try and consider all the health risks that overweight can bring in to your life, and use this as a motivator to get back into shape.
Remember that the healthier your body remains, the better will be the self esteem that you carry. Make sure you get a well planned fitness program, and stick to it. Do not let the slightest hurdle stop you from sticking to your weight loss program.
